MUSIC ALERT (Trust me on this one)
The album: "Still Life" by Darcy Malone & The Tangle
This morning (at this moment) I am listening to "Baby Cakes" by Darcy Malone & The Tangle. I was fortunate enough to attend their show this past weekend at The Listening Room (I am still talking about it). Huge Sound that reminded me of Phil Spector's Wall of Sound. Darcy's Ronnie Spector meets Darlene Love vocal power on "Baby Cakes" and "Be A Man" is refreshing. The CD is full of variety and fun. By gosh, the tracks "Motel Room" and "Another Lover" featuring Chris Boye on lead even has a B-52's vibe. There is even a couple tracks that provided a Brian Wilson arrangement feel to them. Every year I run across something exciting and new to me. In recent years some standouts have been Larkin Poe, Escondido, and now it very well might be Darcy Malone & The Tangle. Thanks Darcy and the whole band for the music. AND Jim please lets get this band back before the end of year (and please be a date Im in town). The Listening Room truly was the Wall of Sound on Sat. Sept. 17th. AND friends must show up for this one. The New Orleans band - Darcy Malone & The Tangle's CD "Still Life" was co-produced by Afghan Whigs' Rick G. Nelson and mixed by Multiple Grammy winning Richard Dodd (Tom Petty's "Wildflowers") Darcy is daughter of The Radiators Dave Malone.
By end of the year, I will be at another 300+ shows and when ranking top shows - right up there alongside Bruce, The Stones, McCartney will very likely be this New Orleans band's show at the Listening Room on Sept. 17th. :)

"Tangle is enjoyable like a flight of beers. Each song has a different flavor, and when you've finished, you need another round."

“A powerful, soulful sound in the great New Orleans tradition of Lil Queenie, Darcy Malone is part of Crescent City music royalty, and her voice won’t ever let you forget it. A rising talent to watch, for sure.”
